Round of applause for the dumbest piece of sports business haggling I have ever seen. This was laughable at first. “He’ll take the deal, of course he will.” But then I had to spend my time covering this story when we all knew that if Tristan Thompson and his agent Rich Paul went down this road, they’d be done. And pop goes the weasel! Tristan Thompson has officially lost it. He’s blew it, the Cleveland Cavaliers have reportedly pulled their $80 Million Offer to TT.
The Cavs were under no obligation to leave their $80 million offer on the table, and from what I heard, pulled it as soon as Thompson’s qualifying offer expired.
So there we go. All that for $14 million. He wanted max even though he’s not even a starter, the Cavs didn’t entertain it, the head coach stopped caring! but for some reason, Thompson held out as if he’s LeBron James. Boy oh boy the time wasted on you Mr Thompson has been staggering. And I bet you still don’t realise that they gave you the best offer possible. They didn’t pluck that number out of thin air you know.
And as we wrap this pointless saga, I wonder how LeBron feels, having an agent that held Thompson’s hand through an unwinnable battle.
