Johnny Manziel has been one of the most talked about players in the NFL even before he was drafted by the Cleveland Browns with the 22nd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. The man who did his infamous ‘money’ celebration on the stage when he was drafted might now be out of making any type of cash for the foreseeable future.
Off-field issues including incidents with a female companion, going to rehab and then going out partying a few months later and a lack of production on Sundays has forced the Browns hand and led them to release the former Heisman winning quarterback.
In his short Browns career, Manziel appeared in 14 games with eight starts over two seasons. In his career, he has completed 147 of 258 passes for 1,675 yards with seven touchdowns and seven interceptions and he also added 259 rushing yards and one score.
Manziel’s downfalls have not been coupled with any highs in his short NFL career thus far. There have been more gossip articles written about his partying than his wins. More talk about his drinking than his touchdowns and more chatter about what team he can go to after the Browns instead of how he could have helped Cleveland. Manziel’s career has been anything but a success at this point and despite his college stardom, he has all but failed in his NFL career.
