The Cleveland Browns hold the first overall pick so there is no reason to hide what they are thinking. Cleveland is in serious need of a quarterback and Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com has reported that the Browns are really considering taking Mitch Trubisky first overall.
Head coach Hue Jackson was asked about Trubisky today at the Combine interviews.
Trubisky, a Cleveland native, has been on the Browns radar for quite some time. He measured in at 6’2? and one-eighth of an inch which seems to be plenty fine with Jackson. If the Browns think he is their franchise quarterback than there is an argument to be made for taking him first overall.
There would be a huge risk in doing so because that would mean passing on Myles Garrett who is a once in a generational type of pass rusher. They also seem to be in the running for Jimmy Garappolo. It will be fun to see what Cleveland does this offseason at the quarterback position.
My latest mock draft has the Browns selecting Trubisky. A team desperate for a quarterback will probably take one earlier than they want to.
