The New York Knicks traded JR Smith and Iman Shumpert earlier this month, which seemed like they were trying to open up room for rookie Cleanthony Early to get more playing time.
That really hasn’t been the case as Early still struggles to see the floor. Knicks team president Phil Jackson announced today that the second round pick from Wichita State as been assigned to D-League affiliate West Chester.
Early will get major minutes for West Chester, including tonight when they play Sioux Falls.
Early should be expected to be called back up to the NBA soon, as the Knicks have the next few days off.
Early is still under contract with New York, therefore no roster spot opens while he’s playing with West Chester.
