The Detroit Lions have reached an agreement with running back CJ Anderson. Anderson started last season with the Carolina Panthers before being released mid-season. After signing and getting cut by the Oakland Raiders before playing in a game, Anderson signed with the Las Angeles Rams and largely took over for the hobbled Todd Gurley. In two regular season games in LA, Anderson recorded 299 yards on 43 carries and scored two rushing touchdowns.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter was first to report the signing via his Twitter.
Former Rams’ RB C.J. Anderson reached agreement on a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions, per source. Chance to produce this season, then hit market again after this season.

CJ Anderson closed out last season strong with the Rams and saw a lot of action in the playoffs. In the three postseason games, Anderson raked up 189 yards and two touchdowns while splitting the workload with Gurley. It is still unclear whether the extra time Anderson got was due to an injury to Gurley or because of the production that he put up when given the opportunity. Anderson will be sure to take advantage of his year in Detroit giving the Lions a weapon to help quarterback Matthew Stafford while helping his chances at a long term contract next season.
