CinemaCon is the gift that keeps on giving this week. After a trailer and poster for Todd Phillip’s The Joker, it looks like we may be getting a look at Guy Ritchie’s post-Aladdin plans. Ritchie took to the stage on Wednesday to share the trailer for The Gentlemen (previously Toff Guys). That footage has yet to be made public. But, those in attendance praised it as ‘classic kinetic Ritchie.’
The film tells the story of a British crime lord who looks to sell his empire to a couple of Oklahoma billionaires. For reference here’s a quote from the trailer said by Hugh Grant’s character, who seems to be narrating the film. “I can’t be specific about the heroes and zeroes, but the protagonist is a hungry animal and the antagonist explodes on the scene like a millennial f***ing fireworks.” So, yeah seems like we’re getting vintage Ritchie with this one.
The Gentlemen stars Matthew McConaughey, Hugh Grant, Charlie Hunnam, Colin Farrell, and Michelle Dockery. Ritchie wrote the film alongside Marn Davies and Ivan Atkinson.
No official release date has been announced, only that it will hit theaters sometime next year.
