Listen, it’s particularly tough for me to right about the horrifying doll that is ‘Chucky’. As a child, it traumatized me, along with millions of other poor children across the world, leaving me nothing but nightmares filled with a doll holding an over-sized knife. Now, let’s get to the point, because I’m already re-living some memories. Despite my fears, Chucky is back.
The Doll that scared many as a film is returning but this time to the small screen in a series format. Reportedly, SyFy is developing a pilot to a series that revolves around the traumatizing ‘Chucky’. Per Variety:
The potential series, centered on the red-headed doll possessed by the soul of dead serial killer Charles Lee Ray, will be written and executive produced by Don Mancini, who wrote the film franchise on which the series is based. David Kirschner and Nick Ancosta will also executive produce, with Ancosta producing via his Eat the Cat banner. Universal Content Productions (UCP) will produce. Ancosta is currently under an overall deal at the studio.
Chucky debuted in 1988 in the ‘Child’s Play’ horror flick and now it will return with it’s sequel. This isn’t the only show SyFy has given the green-lit. ‘Cipher’ and ‘Cult Classic’ are also in pre-production. No release date is set for the show, but obviously this is a project that is moving to development sooner rather than later.
