The Milwaukee Brewers have become the most recent winners in the Miami Marlins fire sale. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic is reporting that the Brewers have acquired outfielder Christian Yelich in a trade.

In return, the Brewers sent a heavy load of prospects to Miami, four in total. One of the four prospects is Milwaukees highest ranked minor leaguer, outfielder Lewis Brinson.
Yelich batted .282 with 18 homers, 81 RBI, 16 stolen bases and .807 OPS in 156 games for the Marlins. He moved from left field to center field in 2017.
Milwaukee is taking over all of Yelich’s team friendly contract. He has four years left on a multiyear contract that will pay him a guaranteed $44.5 million through 2021. The contract also includes a $15 million team option for 2022. He’ll make $7 million this season.
After Giancarlo Stanton had been traded to the New York Yankees, Yelich became nervous with the direction the team was heading in. He requested being traded to a contending team like Stanton and Marcell Ozuna.
Yelich, who is a .290 career hitter with a Gold Glove and a Silver Slugger Award, was attractive to numerous suitors.
