Your favourite buddy cop duo will officially be returning to the big screen. In 1998, Rush Hour featuring an up and coming comedian in Chris Tucker and a stunt actor in Jackie Chan destroyed box offices raking in over $200 million worldwide and becoming an instant classic. Chan and Tucker would return to do a sequel and a 3rd instalment in the franchise in 2007 but it has been quiet since then. Now, about 12 years later Chris Tucker confirms that a 4th instalment in the franchise is happening. While sitting in on ESPN’s podcast, The Plug, Tucker who is now 46, confirms that Rush Hour 4 is in fact going to be ‘the rush of all rushes’:
“It’s happening. This is gonna be the rush of all rushes. Jackie is ready and we want to do this so that people don’t ever forget it.”
With Tucker and Chan confirming that they are ready to go for Rush Hour 4, it is only a matter of time before Carter & Lee returning to the big screen. With Tucker being 46 and Jackie Chan being closer to 63 (feel old yet?) the movie would have to enter production soon before the buddy cop movie would have to be set in a retirement home. All jokes aside, as a fan of both actors and their work in Rush Hour, I couldn’t be more excited for this news. There’s no reports on who will helm the director’s chair for the 4th instalment, since Brett Ratner (who directed the first 3 movies) is dealing with sexual assault allegations and would more then likely not be considered.
