Over the course of his storied career, Chris Rock has worn many hats. He’s been a movie star, appeared in TV series and of course, he has been one of the world’s most successful comedians for nearly two decades. One hat we have not seen him wear often is that of a director. During his career, the storied comedian has earned six director credits. Most notably, he was the driving force behind the films Top Five and Head of State starring himself and the late, Bernie Mac. Of late, Rock has turned his focused back towards comedy specials, but it appears that he may be returning to the director’s chair as well.
According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Rock is set to direct a new film called Coparenting starring Kevin Hart. Written by Yamara Taylor, the film focuses on “a dad who stays at home to raise the kids while his wife, a top CEO, is the family breadwinner.” Things take a drastic turn when “his star wife initiates a bitter divorce and custody battle.”
Produced by Will Packer, the film is set to be put forth by Will Packer Productions at a later date. In the meantime, Rock will prepare for his role as Noah on the fourth season of Fargo. Hart will also continue working as his company, Hartbeat Productions, just inked a deal with Nickelodeon.
