Chris Paul, DeAndre Jordan And J.J. Redick Are Key To The Clippers Playoff Push

Clippers
J.J. Redick, Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan are key to any future Clippers success (NBA)

The Los Angeles Clippers are a solid 8-4 in the month of March as a team. However, three players in particular are putting up monster stats. Chris Paul has been a double-double machine, along with center DeAndre Jordan. Also, sharpshooter JJ Redick has been scoring like crazy in the absence of 6th Man Jamal Crawford.

Chris Paul has always been known for two things, being a great defender that can steal the ball from just about anyone (and shut down Kevin Durant in the playoffs), and being a great passer (just look at his all-star highlights) that has great assists numbers. CP3 is also very efficient, as he makes a lot of shots. He is an outstanding all around player who can score, pass, and play outstanding defense. This month though, Chris Paul has taken his play to another level. CP3 has had 7 double-doubles, and has scored over 30 points 4 times. One game against the Wizards on Friday, he had 15 assists and 30 points! Now that is pretty good. He has also only scored under 20 points 3 times, while having less than 10 assists only 4 times. Chris Paul has offensively averaged 23 points and 10.8 assists, all while shooting 51% from the field. He has been absolutely amazing offensively, but he also has the defensive numbers that you would expect. Chris Paul has a steal in every game this month except for the first one against the Bulls. Other than that one game, CP3 has been stealing the ball from whoever he is covering. Against the Mavericks he had 5 steals! That is pretty great. He has averaged 1.8 steals per game in March. These stats are all above average for this season. Chris Paul has shown other teams just how good he is this month. If you want to look at all of his stats from every single game this season, look on ESPN.

Clippers
DeAndre Jordan (NBA)

Next, we have DeAndre Jordan. This month, DeAndre Jordan has been seeming to pull down just about every single rebound possible. According to ESPN, DeAndre has been grabbing on average 18 rebounds a game this month! That is crazy good. Now, while grabbing double-digit rebounds is a normal thing for DeAndre Jordan, his season average is only at 11 RPG. So grabbing 18 or more rebounds is awesome, even for him. He has pulled down double digit rebounds in every game except this month. If you want to look further into it, DeAndre has pulled down 15 or more rebounds in all of the games this month except for one, in which he had 14 rebounds!. DeAndre Jordan has also scored on average 10.9 PPG. So like fellow teammate Chris Paul, he also averages a double-double this month. He has had 7 double-doubles in all. DeAndre Jordan has been great on the glass this month, and look for him to continue doing it.

The last Clippers player, but certainly not least, whom has gone off this month is JJ Redick. JJ Redick is a truly feared sharpshooter in this league, and this month he has shown us just why he is. JJ Redick has put up scary scoring numbers for a sharpshooter like himself. He has averaged 21 points this month, according to ESPN. Compared to a season average of 15 PPG, he has surely been scoring much easier. Redick is one of the most feared shooters in the NBA, and is almost guaranteed to make his threes with his feet set. He has averaged 41% this month. While this is below average for him, if you compare it to another player such as fellow teammates Chris Paul and Jamal Crawford, he looks much better. CP3 has shot 39% from the 3 point line this month, while averaging that same number on the season, and Jamal Crawford has shot 35% this season from three (Jamal’s season stats). So clearly, Redick has been shooting very well this month, and above what most players can shoot from three. JJ Redick has been scoring very well this month in the absence of scoring 6th Man Jamal Crawford, and has helped the Clippers not miss Jamal very well.

CP3, DeAndre Jordan, and JJ Redick played amazing so far this month. They have helped their team to win a lot of games and make a push to stay in the playoff race. If these three continue to play the way they are with the Blake Griffin and possibly Jamal Crawford coming back, then there is no doubt in my mind that they will make the playoffs and be a contender to make it to the NBA Championship.
