Former NFL All-Pro running back Chris Johnson finds himself in some hot water after reportedly being accused of being involved in a murder-for-hire plot that killed two men in 2016. According to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, Johnson allegedly paid a gang member to murder two men who were suspected of shooting at the running back and his friend a year earlier in 2015.
Johnson survived the shooting but his friend and the driver of the vehicle at the time, would not survive. Johnson did get shot in the shoulder but recovered fully. The two suspects in the 2015 shooting aimed at Johnson and his friend were both murdered in 2016.
Orange County Officials say Johnson and his friend were riding around in a jeep when their vehicle was shot at around 4 a.m. on March 8, 2015. According to the papers obtained by TMZ, an informant told authorities that Johnson had paid known gang member Dominic Bolden to murder the two suspects.
Officials also say … months later, a noted Florida gang member named Dominic Bolden shot and killed two men — one on Jan. 19, 2016 and one on July 24, 2016 — who were believed to be the shooters in the March 2015 incident.
In the court docs, officials claim an informant told them as a reward for Bolden’s alleged actions … Chris helped the guy become a leader of a famed drug trafficking organization (DTO) in Florida.
The informant told officials that Johnson supplied Bolden “with funds and an individual who could continually supply Dominic Bolden with as much narcotics as needed to supply the DTO.”
The informant also told officials the “murder for hire elevated Dominic Bolden’s rank, reputation and power within the DTO” — eventually making Bolden the org’s de facto leader.
It’s important to note that these simply remain as allegations against Chris Johnson and not a formal criminal case. Johnson denies all allegations and took to Twitter yesterday to help clear his name.

Johnson played 10 seasons in the NFL and was one of the league’s most dynamic ball carriers through his career with the Tennesee Titans. After a standout rookie season, the man dubbed ‘CJ2K’ carried the ball for a ridiculous 2,006 rushing yards in 2009. Johnson would leave Tennessee prior to the 2014 NFL season and finished his career out with the New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals.
