Actor Chris Evans is reportedly nearing a deal to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain America. If reports are correct, this is a major shift from Evans comments two years ago. During the rollout for Avengers: Endgame, Evans indicated that he had played the role for the last time and passing the mantle to Anthony Mackie. Now, it appears that Evans will return as Captain America in a similar fashion to Robert Downey Jr. returning as Iron Man.

At this moment, neither Evans nor Marvel has commented on the matter. In the meantime, Marvel continues to charge forward with their crowded calendar. This spring will be full of releases including Loki, Morbius and Black Widow. The summer will then include the releases of Shang-Chi and Venom. Also, Chadwick Boseman will make his final appearance as Black Panther in the animated series, What If. Rounding out the year, Eternals will likely be Marvel’s first big release as theaters are expected to reopen.
