Chris Bosh has been heavily debated about in the recent weeks despite him not being on the court since February. There was speculation running rampant about him possibly returning to the Miami Heat for their run through the 2016 NBA playoffs but his ongoing issue with blood clots had prevented him from taking the floor.
The Heat All-Star forward had been patiently sitting on the sidelines and supporting his teammates but behind the scenes, he was working to somehow get himself back on the court. His wife started a social media campaign to get him back into the swing of things but that only caused more of a commotion and more drama for the Miami Heat. Eventually it was reported that the NBPA was going to investigate the situation with Bosh and the Heat and it appears that they have found their answer. Bosh will not be returning to the team for the remainder of the playoffs.
Following from an official Miami Heat release.
HEAT STATEMENT ON CHRIS BOSH
The Miami HEAT and Chris Bosh announce that Chris will not be playing in the remainder of the 2016 NBA Playoffs. The HEAT, Chris, the doctors and medical team have been working together throughout this process and will continue to do so to return Chris to playing basketball as soon as possible.
Bosh has stated in the past that this issue wouldn’t force him to retire but this is now the second season in a row that Miami will end without Chris Bosh in a uniform and it’s a question that needs to be asked. Would he be better off retiring, for all parties involved and of course primarily for Bosh’s health and well-being? Only time will tell at this point but Miami sure does have some big plans coming up in free agency and Bosh’s money being on the books without him playing isn’t ideal.
