Netflix has ordered a new series from the team behind Children’s Hospital, according to TVLine. Medical Police will star Erinn Hayes and Rob Huebel, who both appeared in starring roles on Children’s Hospital. Other Children’s Hospital alums, Malin Akerman, Lake Bell, Rob Corddry, and Ken Marino will also appear in the new series.
According to the show’s official description, Medical Police will follow two American physicians stationed at a pediatric hospital in São Paulo, Brazil. The two discover a globe-threatening virus and are recruited as government agents in a race against time and around the world to find a cure and uncover a dark conspiracy.
Corddry, Krister Johnson, Jonathan Stern, and David Wain are writing the series for Netflix. They will all also serve as executive producers. Wain will direct the series alongside Bill Benz. With this much carryover from Children’s Hospital, many fans are questioning whether or not Medical Police will be a true follow-up. But, with the titular hospital being located somewhere in Brazil, it certainly seems like the two series are linked.
The 10-episode first season will likely hit the streaming platform sometime in 2020.
