Alabama native Chika has returned with the gift of new music. Following her debut EP, Industry Games, Once Upon A Time is a six-track EP with a sole feature from the incredibly talented BJ The Chicago Kid. It also includes the previously released single, “FWB.” The project also features production from Lido, McClenney, 30 Roc, T-Money, Leo Pinotti, Felipe Pampuri and Daniel Pampuri.
This is the first project she has released since she dropped Industry Games back in March 2020. With the chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic, NBA shutdown and much more, the project, along with Jack Harlow’s Sweet Action EP, did not receive the fanfare it deserved. However, it did result in one of the best Tiny Desk performances of the last year. She also took her talents to Desus & Mero as well as The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Most recently, she worked as a presenter during the 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards.
Her last two projects have also cemented her in Alabama’s budding music scene. Over the last year, Young Bleu burst on to the scene through his collaboration with Drake, Brittany Howard performed on the GRAMMY stage and Rylo Rodriguez emerged as the new face of Lil’ Baby’s label. With Once Upon A Time, she will further break onto the national scene. Check out her latest EP below.
