Kansas City Chiefs have stolen a safety away from a division rival. Chiefs have signed veteran safety Tyvon Branch away from the Oakland Raiders.
Chiefs general manager John Dorsey commented on the signing on the team’s official website.
“We are excited we were able to reach a deal with Tyvon and bring him to Kansas City,” Dorsey said. “He is a physical player who we feel can help our defense. We’re looking forward to having him.”
Branch, 28, was a fourth-round pick of the Oakland Raiders in 2008. He played in 75 games for the Silver and Black, including 67 starts, grabbing four interceptions and getting eight sacks. He’s a solid playmaker and a big hitter, so signing him will be a good place to start as the team tries to replace Eric Berry.
