We’re under way for Free Agency 2014. Where reporters go into overdrive and frantically call their sources to get the latest on everything Free Agency.
Carmelo Anthony spent today with the Bulls of Chicago. His first of a reported four stops (Dallas, Houston and LA the other three)
Most people have Chicago as the Frontrunners for Melo, but Chicago aren’t so confident according to Ian Begley of ESPN NY…
“They’re worried that he’s headed back to New York,” a source with knowledge of the team’s thinking said of early Tuesday morning. “They’re more pessimistic than optimistic.”
Anthony has also stated that it will be difficult for him to uproot his family from New York to another city. And the Knicks, as we all know, can offer Anthony a max contract worth $129 million over five years. It is unclear at this point if the Knicks will offer Anthony a maximum contract.
Other teams can offer Anthony a max deal of $96 million over four years.
I keep forgetting how hard this is for Carmelo. I mean it’s not just his career he has to think about. He does have a family and other interests.
Personally I think he should go to the team that will get him a ring, I don’t mean that cynically. I want Melo to win. If he does “uproot” his family. I think they wouldn’t mind if he wins the accolades I think he deserves.
It’s all about calculated risks for Melo.
