Chicago Bulls and point guard Aaron Brooks are finalizing a deal that would bring Brooks to Chi-Town, according to CSN Chicago’s Aggrey Sam. Full contract details have not been released yet.
CSNChicago.com first reported Thursday that there was mutual interest between the Bulls and the diminutive scoring point guard, who follows in the tradition of C.J. Watson, John Lucas III, Nate Robinson and D.J. Augustin, who recently signed with Detroit.
The organization also considered the likes of veteran floor general Jameer Nelson, who was waived by Orlando earlier this offseason, and Utah’s Lucas III, a favorite of Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau, though Lucas is currently under contract with the Jazz for next season, albeit a non-guaranteed deal.
The Bulls add a very nice piece to come off the bench. The former Oregon Duck has hopped around from team to team recently since being drafted by the Houston Rockets in 2007 with the 26th overall pick. The former most improved player of the year in 2010, Brooks averaged 9 points per game and 3.2 assists per game in mostly bench work for both the Denver Nuggets and Houston Rockets.
Brooks joins new additions to the Bulls, Pau Gasol, Doug McDermott and international star Nikola Mirotic. The Bulls are making some serious power moves in the East so be sure to pay attention to Chicago as the former MVP Derrick Rose is slated to return at the start of the season and lead the Bulls who were already a playoff team last year without him.
