The Washington Commanders have placed defensive end, Chase Young, on the reserve/PUP list. This means he will miss at least the first four games of the 2022-23 NFL season. Young is still recovering from the ACL and MCL tear he suffered last season on November 14th against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Moving him to the reserve/PUP list means he will not be healthy enough to play in those first four games. Earlier in the offseason near the beginning of training camp, Head Coach Ron Rivera mentioned Young would not be ready for the season opener and that this move was possible.
Chase Young being moved to PUP means he will miss the first 4 games of the season.
Rivera all but said this was going to happen at the start of camp. While we knew it was coming, still a massive blow to hopes of Chase Young’s expected year-three breakout. It’s year three now!

In 24 career games with the Washington Commanders, Chase Young has recorded 47 solo tackles, 70 total tackles, nine sacks, six forced fumbles, and three fumbles recoveries that he returned for 57 yards. After a promising rookie year, Young had slowed down some before his injury in his second season. After fully recovering from his injury this season the team is hoping he returns to top form.
The #Commanders have moved pass-rusher Chase Young to Reserve/PUP, meaning he’s out 4 games and potentially more. They’ll need him 100% healthy before he’s active.

The Washington Commanders selected Chase Young with the second overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. With that comes high expectations for the young defensive end and the team will need him healthy for that. We here at Def Pen Sports hope for a quick recovery and return to the field for the talented defensive end.
