To say the final season of Game of Thrones was frustrating to a lot of fans would be an understatement. (Check out our breakdown of the finale here, if you want an idea of how most fans feel.) Fans new and old took to social media over the course of the season to voice their displeasure in the season’s rushed, contrived plot. Some even signed a petition to remake the season as a way of calling out the showrunners for their mishandling of the show’s last run.
There were some fans who remained loyal to the show’s writers but those numbers have begun to dwindle as even actors from the series are stepping up to voice their displeasure about the show’s finale. Emilia Clarke, Kit Harrington, and Peter Dinklage were all pretty vocal about this in press junkets over the course of the last few months. Then, earlier this week, Varys’ actor, Conleth Hill stepped up to voice his own frustrations with his character’s role over the last couple seasons.
Well, we can now add Tywin Lannister to that list as Charles Dance himself recently spoke about his experience watching the finale. “I was confused,” Dance said of the finale. “[I] got to the very end and I thought, ‘Hmmm, okay…’ There’s little Arya, she’s going off on a cruise somewhere. Poor Jon, going back up north beyond the wall. And then there’s Tyrion. And all the people left alive are saying, ‘What do we do now? Should we have a cup of tea?’ And I thought, ‘Ahhh, I don’t know.’”
Dance masterfully portrayed the bone-chilling Tywin Lannister for the first four seasons of the show.
Game of Thrones is available to stream in its entirety on HBO.
