Charles Barkley didn’t like the Golden State Warriors last season, and he didn’t think very much of them. He didn’t want Kevin Durant to go to the team and got frustrated when he did. He doesn’t like the team obviously, but he loves to criticize them. How is he going to criticize them now? All he can say is that they’re flawed.
From Brian Mahoney of the Associated Press:
“Let me say this: I still think they got some of the same issues this year with that team,” Barkley said Tuesday.
“Can they rebound the ball? They’re going to still be shooting jumpers. They’re not going to get any low-post scoring. Can that type of play hold up through the rigors of the NBA playoffs? I’m still going to say the same thing I’ve always said: No.”
The Warriors won an NBA record of 73 games last year, but Barkley still wasn’t impressed. After losing in the championship game, Barkley felt his point was proven. He even said that small ball wouldn’t win them a championship:
“‘When I told you they couldn’t play that little small ball and win a championship if everybody they played was healthy, that they’d wear down, and they did. I told you Cleveland was going to beat them and they did,’ Barkley said during a lunch before TNT’s “Inside the NBA” studio team was elected to the Broadcasting Hall of Fame.”
Barkley may have been right this season, but I don’t think he is going to be right about their flaws for next season. With Kevin Durant, this team is stacked and will be nearly impossible to beat.
