TNT analyst Charles Barkley is used to being the polarizing public figure. But we have not been graced with Barkley’s sparkling analysis in the popular “NBA 2K” basketball video game. Many have wondered why, but Sir Charles has reasoning behind it. Barkley says that he will agree to let the game creators use his likeness if the company donates a million dollars to the retired NBA players association. Barkley says he has no desire to make any money from the game.
This is not a new request from the former player and Hall of Fame forward. Back in October Barkley reiterated that he would not join the gaming franchise unless they made a sizable donation. That sentiment was reinforced during a TNT broadcast.
The “NBA 2K” video game has a digitally recreated pre-game and post-game show using TNT analysts. Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith, and Shaquille O’Neal are all a part of the show, but Barkley has been noticeably absent. The Round Mound is however featured on the ’92 Olympic “Dream Team” roster.
If there is one thing the “2K” basketball video game is lacking, it is Charles Barkley yelling at how poorly you’re playing. Imagine him commenting on how your “MyPlayer” failed to pass the ball or only shot 33% from the floor. Honestly, that sounds pretty entertaining to me. And all of that could be possible with a cool million dollar donation from 2K Sports.
