Lip Service and The Breakfast Club co-host Angela Yee opened about recent issues she’s dealt with during her time on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club. Specifically, she was asked about her working relationship with her co-host, Charlamagne Tha God.
The two seemingly came to blows during the last quarter of 2019 when Charlamagne Tha God sat down for an interview with Gucci Mane. During the interview, Gucci expressed issues he had with Angela Yee and alleged that he had been banned from the morning show. At one point, Gucci went as far as to refer to Yee as a “b*tch.” Charlamagne Tha God received backlash for not interjecting during Gucci Mane’s segment on Yee.
In response, Yee has remained relatively tight lipped about the incident. However, she did tell DJ Quicksilva in October that she believes Charlamagne should have supported her during the interview. More recently, she discussed their relationship at length with Variety.
“We’ve always been the same. We work together, it is what it is,” Yee said.
“Like he said, we’re co-workers. A lot of people have jobs where they don’t necessarily love the people they work with, it’s just a part of life. That’s not the person you’d hang out with in real life,” she continued.
Later on, she revealed that this is not the first time the two have had their differences.
“There’s been a lot of experiences. The important thing is I’ve always been a responsible person. As a woman, too, you have to be a lot stronger,” she said.
“Things are always happening that if you let it bother you, you’ll be mad all the time. It’s hard not to [take things personally]. It sucks because sometimes you feel so numb. You used to get so upset over things and feel so much, after a while shit keeps happening, you’re just numb to it now,” she added.
Despite their differences, The Breakfast Club will continue to move forward as one of the most popular morning shows in the country in 2020.
