The wide receiver position for the 2016 NFL free agency period and the 2016 NFL Draft is one of the weakest in recent memory. With the lack of big names to choose from in both the draft and free agency, teams are going to have to pick off top talent while they can. The first big name to come off the board is Travis Benjamin who will leave the Cleveland Browns to join Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers.

I’m told WR Travis Benjamin plans to sign with the #Chargers when the market officially opens tomorrow. San Diego gets a dangerous weapon.

Benjamin is only 26 and he is going to clean up in an underwhelming receiver market. He caught a career-high 68 passes for 966 yards and five touchdowns in a breakout year with the Browns in 2015 with top receiver Josh Gordon missing the entire season due to a suspension. He put up solid numbers with a revolving door at quarterback last season for the Browns and he could put up even bigger numbers with Philip Rivers as his QB and a need for a top receiver after Malcolm Floyd elected to retire.
