Prior to the NBA trade deadline, the Cleveland Cavaliers acquired Channing Frye in a 3-team deal that sent Anderson Varejao to the Portland Trail Blazers.
However, there were some complications with Frye passing his physical in Cleveland, which was reportedly related to a heart issue that forced Frye to sit out the entirety of the 2012-13 season.
On Monday, though, it was announced that Frye has indeed passed his physical, and will be active to play for the Cavs tonight in Cleveland against the Detroit Pistons, according to Chris Haynes of Cleveland.com. Frye is “expected” to receive minutes tonight, according to Haynes.
Frye, a 6’11” 3-point specialist, should be a nice addition to a Cleveland team that is already top-10 in 3-point percentage.
Frye has averaged 5.2 points and 3.2 rebounds in 17.1 minutes per game this season for the Magic, while shooting 39.7% on 3s.
