Chandler Parsons has already been ruled out for the Grizzlies’ season opener. The small forward is recovering from a knee injury that has kept him out for a while.
It appears that Parsons may be close to returning, however. In an interview on the Grizzlies’ official Twitter account, Parsons declares that he is playing 5-on-5 in practice and that he hopes to start playing in games “soon.”

This is obviously good news. Playing 5-on-5’s in practice should be a sign that Parsons is progressing and will be ready for game time soon.
The new Grizzlies’ acquisition mentioned that the team is being cautious due to the fact that he’s coming off two surgeries. That may be the case, and in Parsons’ case, it should be.
Parsons has struggled to stay healthy during his career and his talent has been overshadowed by his inability to stay on the court.
The Grizzlies thought highly enough of Chandler Parsons to give him a max deal despite the risks. Now it’s up to him to get healthy and prove that he was worth it.
