Earlier it was reported that Dallas Mavericks forward Chandler Parsons is likely to miss the remainder of the 2015-16 season after his upcoming knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus. Parsons left the game in the third quarter of Dallas’ matchup against the Golden State Warriors last Friday with soreness in his right hamstring. He also missed Sunday’s win against Portland.
According to a report from the Associated Press (hat tip NBC Sports) a source close to the situation is saying that Parsons might still be able to return this season after having surgery. The source is said to have disclosed the information anonymously because details aren’t being released. The team did announce that Parsons will miss the upcoming four-game road trip, after which there will be eight games left in the regular season.
It’s a huge blow for Dallas to not have Parsons to finish out the season since they’re in a dog fight for the eighth seed in the Western Conference and a playoff appearance. If they can press on a bit further without him, they might be able to buy some time and have him back for the playoffs. That of course is dependent on how effective they can be without him, and of course, the nature and recovery of his surgery
