Dallas Mavericks’ forward Chandler Parsons will likely miss the rest of the season to undergo surgery on a torn meniscus. According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, he will seek a second opinion before going through the operation, but all signs point to the small-forward being out for the rest of the year.
Parsons has had a rough season as a whole through rehabilitating previous injuries. But he had been improving and quietly playing very well over the past two months. Unfortunately, his season now has to be cut short.
The Mavericks, at 35-35, are only one game up for the eight seed on the Utah Jazz. They have struggled as a team recently and with one of their best players now likely to miss the remainder of the season, it seems difficult to believe they can hold on.
Last week a NBA exec was asked about Chandler Parsons possibly signing with his team in FA, he pointed to his knee. "Nope."

Meanwhile, the injury may also have a profound impact on Parsons’ free agency. The forward is expected to opt out of his contract this season t o seek a lucrative and more long-term option. However, the injury may hold lots of weight in the eyes of managements across the league in considering how much they would want to pay the talented but oft-injured player.
Hopefully, Parsons can recover from this injury and get back to the form that he has shown recently.
