The Boston Celtics currently hold the 16th and 28th overall selections in the NBA Draft in the 1st round. The Boston Celtics in a late surge, landed in the 7th spot in the Eastern Conference and were swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers, but the squad full of role players learned a lesson or two about the Playoffs by none other then LeBron James. All they need is some star power to surround their great role players. Danny Ainge is looking to make that move this summer and sign a superstar. He wants to either move up in the NBA draft and build around a young rookie, or trade or sign a star player to build around.
It looks like Celtics GM Danny Ainge is weighing his options on how to move up in the NBA draft. According to Gery Woelfel of JournalTimes.com:
“It’s hardly a secret a slew of teams, including several lottery ones, are exploring potential trades. One team that is making a concerted effort to move into the lottery, league sources claim, is Boston. The Celtics are dangling their two No. 1 picks: Nos. 16 and 28.”
We already know that the New York Knicks are more then willing to get rid of the 4th pick, but they don’t want to go as far as 16th, so what price would the Celtics have to pay. Other teams ike the Sixers or Thunder could look to trade picks in order to get key role players. The Celtics will also target DeMarcus Cousins, Kevin Love, DeAndre Jordan, and LaMarcus Aldridge in the off-season in order to fulfil the biggest void of big men that are offensively talented on this team. Can the Celtics become even more dangerous next season?
