The Boston Celtics need all the help they can get to make the playoffs this year, as they currently sit tied with the Miami Heat for the 8 seed in the East with just 7 games left to play.
The Celtics’ odds of making the playoffs increased a bit today, when they received the news that power forward Jared Sullinger would be making his return in tonight’s game vs. the Milwaukee Bucks, despite previously being listed as out for the season with a left metatarsal stress fracture.
Per the Celtics’ press release,
“We are excited that Jared’s recovery progressed quicker than initially expected,” said Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge. “Jared was extremely diligent in his rehab, repeatedly expressing his eagerness to help our team reach the postseason. He will be available in a limited role this weekend as he works his way back to 100 percent game shape.”
Sullinger had been a big part of this Celtics team prior to his injury, averaging 14.4 points and 8.1 rebounds per game this season, and starting in 49 of the 51 games he played in. The return of a starting-caliber big man will help Boston find success in the playoff hunt.
