The Boston Celtics have signed guard Andre Dawkins to a second 10-day contract effective Monday. Dawkins’ first contract expired on Sunday.
“It’s good,” Dawkins said after Boston’s 83-75 loss to Miami. “I get another 10 days with the team and obviously keep learning, try to get a little bit better every day.”
The 23 year-old out of Duke averaged 22.1 points per game on 45.8 percent shooting, including 46.2 percent from three-point range in the D-League this season.
“They’re not really worried about me shooting the ball,” Dawkins said. “They know I’m going to be able to do that. It’s more so what I can get better at, and a lot of that’s at the defensive end. The team defensive concepts are a little different than what we did in Miami, so it’s been an adjustment trying to learn how they want to play certain things, certain pick-and-rolls here and there.”
Dawkins has played in four games for the Heat this season, but has yet to see the floor in a Celtic uniform.
