The Boston Celtics, due mostly to struggles in the health and rebounding departments, haven’t exceeded any expectations this season so far. It isn’t that their 10-7 record is by any means bad. In fact, that record has them tied for the fourth seed in the East. However, the Celtics are capable of more. Celtics GM Danny Ainge — nicknamed “Trader Danny” — is known for making waves with his trades. He acquired Kevin Garnett. He sent aging heroes Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Jason Terry to the Brooklyn Nets for draft picks that he’s still cashing in on. He acquired All-Star Isaiah Thomas and solid role player Jonas Jerebko for Tayshaun Prince, Marcus Thornton, and a first-round draft pick. If Ainge is unsatisfied with his roster, a trade would be unsurprising, and the Celtics typically come out on top in Ainge’s trades. According to Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald, Ainge is looking to make a move:
From all indications speaking to team sources around the league, Danny Ainge is still after the major trades the C’s president of basketball operations knows are needed. And no doubt he’s loving each story calling the 2017 draft one of the deepest and most talent-laden in many years, understanding that such talk could raise the value of the Nets’ pick that can be theirs.
It is known that Nerlens Noel is very unhappy in Philly, and thus very available. The Kings are reportedly tiring of DeMarcus Cousins. Will Ainge work his magic yet again?
