The Celtics season just got even worse. ABC’s Doris Burke reported the news on live television and Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports confirmed the news via twitter.
Rajon Rondo, who suffered a hyper extended right knee during the Celtics double overtime loss against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday, was held out of today’s game against the Heat to take an MRI on his knee. Well, after the test results came back, they revealed that Rondo actually had torn his ACL in his right knee and will be out for the reminder of the season.
Rondo was voted as an allstar starter this year by the fans and was having another excellent season. He was averaging 13.7 PPG, 11.1 APG and 5.6 RPG.
The Celtics are currently good enough for 8th in the Eastern Conference, but they have lost six games in a row.
