For most of the summer I was hyping up the young Boston Celtics and was proclaiming that they’ll make the Playoffs like they did last year and more. A reason for my proclamation was their head coach Brad Stevens who has been brilliant from day one. Danny Ainge is definitely patting himself on the back with that one. Don’t believe me? Look, he basically did on ESPN.
You’ve joked about it before, but are you ready to give him another six-year contract yet?
Ainge: [Laughs] Yeah.
You have to start thinking about that. Sure, we’re only in Year 3, but you can’t risk letting a good coach get away.
Ainge: No, listen, he’s a keeper. He’s great. He’s great to work with. Like I said, I think he’s going to be — if he stays in this game long enough — he’s going to be one of the great coaches.
I agree with all that, I’d keep him for as long as possible. The Celtics are ahead of schedule and if the Brooklyn Nets continue to be garbage, the Celtics might have a chance at the no.1 pick thanks to the Kevin Garnett trade.
Ben Simmons? On the Celtics? Oh my that’ll be something.
