Boston Celtics second-year player Jaylen Brown aims to become president of the National Basketball Players Association one day, reports Marc J. Spears of ESPN’s The Undefeated:
Brown has dreams of being a future president of the NBPA. The position is currently held by Houston Rockets veteran guard Chris Paul.
“That’s something that I’ve always had my eyes set on,” Brown said. “It’s a great position, and I think there is a lot of change that could still be made in the league. I don’t want to say too much … but I think I could be a great advocate for the players and represent the league well one day.”
Prior to being drafted, Brown was praised by those who met with him for being well-spoken and level-headed in draft interviews. Those qualities should lend to him being a successful NBPA President one day.
Brown, just 20 years old, has plenty of time to accomplish his goal of becoming NBPA President. After all, Chris Paul, 12 years older than Brown, won’t hold the position forever.
Brown, drafted third overall in 2016, averaged 6.6 points and 2.8 rebounds while shooting 45.4 percent from the floor in his rookie season.
