After acquiring Isaiah Thomas in a trade, the tank may have been put on hold by the Boston Celtics, because they aren’t that far out of the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference.
Now, there might be an issue due to an injury of one of their top young prospects, Jared Sullinger.

Jared Sullinger (stress reaction foot) "will be out a while" according to coach Brad Stevens #Celtics

While we don’t know exactly how long Sullinger will be out, he ‘will be out a while’ and that’s not a good thing for the Celtics pushing forward. Boston is looking at Jae Crowder and Brandon Bass as their immediate, plausible starting power forward options. The Celtics are 20-31, just one and a half games out of eighth place in the Eastern Conference. Trading minor pieces for Thomas could have helped them make a push for that eighth seed or even the seventh seed if Chris Bosh is out for an extended part of the season with the Heat but Losing Sullinger for a while is a step back.
If they do play hard, the Celtics can make it and they can definitely cause some problems in the Eastern Conference. Defeat the Atlanta Hawks? No, but cause some other teams seeding to be messed up, definitely.
