As the coronavirus continues its rapid spread across the country, more and more NBA players are simultaneously being tested for COVID-19. One of those teams that underwent tests recently was the Boston Celtics.
Though the majority of the team’s test results reportedly came back negative, guard Marcus Smart revealed on his Twitter account that he was the lone Celtic to contract coronavirus. Smart is now the tenth known player in the NBA with coronavirus after two Lakers players also came back positive.
I was tested 5 days ago and the results came back tonight, which were positive. Ive been self quarantined since the test, thank goodness. COVID-19 must be taken w the highest of seriousness. I know it’s a #1 priority for our nations health experts, & we must get more testing ASAP pic.twitter.com/xkijb9wlKV

I’ve had no symptoms and I feel great. But the younger generation in our country MUST self distance. This is not a joke. Not doing so is selfish. Together we can beat this, but we must beat it together by being apart for a short while. Much love!!

More and more players will likely come back with positive results as testing across the NBA continues. The NFL also had its first scare with coronavirus earlier this week when New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton tested positive and has been in quarantine for eight days. Thus far, Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell, Christian Wood and four Nets players including Kevin Durant have tested positive for the virus.
