Celtics second round draft pick, the other Marcus Thronton, has signed with the Sydney Kings of the Australian Basketball League, the team announced in a press release.
“The Sydney Kings are excited to announce that 2015 second round NBA Draft pick, guard Marcus Thornton, has agreed to join the club for the 2015/16 National Basketball League Season.”
Thornton was the 45th pick in the draft, and the fourth player selected by the Celtics after Terry Roizer, RJ Hunter, and Jordan Mickey.
Roizer, Hunter, and Mickey all agreed to deals giving the Celtics 16 players on the roster for next season, one over the regular season limit of 15 players.
Boston now gets to keep Thornton’s rights as he plays overseas, and will most likely join the Celtics for the 2016-2017 season.
