They Boston Celtics have a lot of draft picks, especially next year. They have 8 picks next year, 5 of them is for the first round. The Boston Celtics surprised fans by making the NBA Playoffs, which resulting in being swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Celtics have a bright future, because they have a bunch of role players that know how to play as a team, they have a Sixth man that is a an elite scorer in Isaiah Thomas, and they have enough money to sign a big free agent contract. They want MORE money and in order to do that, they need to let go of Gerald Wallace.
They owe Gerald Wallace about $10.2 million next year, and they will do basically anything to let that go.
According to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders:
Gerald Wallace remains the lone veteran contract Boston would like to move and sources say the Celtics would be willing to part with one of the half dozen or so first-round draft picks they have amassed to move him this offseason.
Gerald Wallace played a total of 0 minutes in the NBA Playoffs and he is not in the future of Danny Ainge’s Celtics squad. His NBA days in general are over and what he was known for (athleticism) is diminishing. Wallace is just around trying to collect as much cheques until retirement.
