CBS has finalized a deal for a new series called Clarice. The new series will follow the story of Clarice Starling, who was popularized in the film, Silence of the Lambs. Clarice will take place in the year 1993, just a year after the events of Silence of the Lambs. In the series, Starling will return to Washington, D.C. in order to investigate serial murderers and sexual predators.
A cast has not been finalized yet. However, Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet have signed on to produce and write the series.
“After more than 20 years of silence, we’re privileged to give voice to one of America’s most enduring heroes – Clarice Starling,” Kurtzman and Lumet said.
“Clarice’s bravery and complexity have always lit the way, even as her personal story remained in the dark. But hers is the very story we need today: her struggle, her resilience, her victory. Her time is now, and always,” the duo continued.
There is no definitive release date for the project yet.
