The tanking Cleveland Cavaliers are looking to acquire assets, while the playoff-bound Portland Trail Blazers look to get some additional scoring punch. It appears both sides were able to achieve just that. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Cleveland has dealt wingman Rodney Hood to Portland for guards Nik Stausaks and Wade Baldwin IV and two second-round draft picks.

Hood had to agree to the trade because he signed a one-year qualifying offer with Cleveland last offseason. Wojnarowski says Hood was “enthusiastic” about waiving his bird rights to make the trade happen.
For the Cavaliers, they continue to stockpile assets previously lost during their four-straight runs to the NBA Finals. Cleveland has acquired seven draft picks this season in the trades of Kyle Korver to Utah, George Hill and Sam Dekker, and now Hood. The two second-round picks they acquired in this trade will convey in 2021 and 2023. Stauskas and Baldwin are each on expiring contracts.

Portland gets another versatile wing player in Rodney Hood, who struggled mightily last season with Cleveland. In a league where wing players are coveted, Hood was among the ones most discussed at this year’s deadline, according to Wojnarowski.
Hood was one of the more pursued rotation wings on the market and gives Blazers another offensive weapon for a postseason run. Cleveland continues to stockpile draft picks — with guard Alec Burks likely on deck next for a trade.

This season, Hood is averaging 12.2 points per game on 42.7 percent shooting. The 26-year-old is also chipping in 2.5 rebounds and two assists per game for the 11-42 Cavaliers.
