LeBron James posted his 15th career triple-double, passed Shaquille O’Neal on the NBA’s all-time playoff scoring list and the Cleveland Cavaliers stayed perfect in the postseason through 10 games with a 108-89 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Thursday night in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals. Dating back to last season, the Cavs have won their last 17 games against the Eastern Conference in the playoffs.
James had 23 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists on the night shooting 7-13 from the field and 9-17 from the free throw line. Kyrie Irving scored 26 points on 12-22 shooting and Kevin Love put up 19 for Cleveland, shooting 5-8 from the field while grabbing five rebounds.
The Raptors managed to hang around longer than in Game 1, when they were blown out by 31 but at the end of the day, the Cavs still won easily. The Raptors backcourt of DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry struggled, once again. DeRozan was the lead man for the Raptors scoring 22 points on 8-18 shooting and grabbing five rebounds on the night. Lowry on the other hand played so poorly he had to leave the floor to ‘decompress’, as he said during his postgame press conference. Lowry scored 10 points on 4-14 shooting and grabbed six rebounds.
The Cavs became the fourth team in NBA history to start 10-0 in the playoffs joining the Los Angeles Lakers (1989, 2001) and San Antonio Spurs (2012) to reach those marks but only the second Lakers team in 2001 won an NBA title.
The Cavs lead the Raptors 2-0 and their next game is on Saturday night at 8:30 PM ET on ESPN.
