With all the things that the Cavs have done this offseason, you’d think that they’re perfect. But no. Every team has weaknesses, even the Cavaliers and GM David Griffin knows that according to ProBasketballTalk.
But there are questions, almost all of them on the defensive side of the ball. Specifically, who is going to protect the paint. Anderson Varejao is a quality pick-and-roll defender as big men go (when healthy) but he’s not a rim protector. We know Kevin Love isn’t. Brendan Haywood? Tristan Thompson? Nah.
“I have concerns (on) ability to protect the rim, and that’s not just a Kevin (Love) question.”
They have offense. That is a given, on ball defence varies from player to player but that’s OK. It really is just the inside rim protection that is a problem. Every team with an All-Star Power Forward or Center will relish playing against the Cavs. Kevin Love can rebound we all know that. But that’s about it. He isn’t all that when backed up and blocking certainly isn’t in his repertoire.
Lets not forget Tristan Thompson, Anderson Varejao and Brendan Haywood. Not exactly a block party there.
