In case you somehow missed it, Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and the Brooklyn Nets’ 2018 first-round draft pick were traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Kyrie Irving. After Isaiah Thomas’ physical didn’t go well (he has an injured hip), the Cavs were reportedly seeking more from the Celtics (likely another draft pick or young player). According to Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com, however, that report was false as of Aug. 27:
Per a source, as of yesterday afternoon the Cavs had made no request to Boston for more on Kyrie-IT trade

There are contradicting reports flying around right now, so it’s hard to know what to believe. Will Kyrie Irving be in a Celtics uniform next year? If not, it’s hard to imagine him staying in Cleveland, even if the Cavs have to trade him elsewhere.
If this trade ends up falling through, Isaiah Thomas and Jae Crowder remaining in Boston’s locker room after being (nearly) traded would be disastrous for team chemistry.
All that’s left is to wait for official word from one of the two teams. Or, more likely, wait for a report from Adrian Wojnarowski or Shams Charania.
