The Atlanta Hawks took an early 7-2 lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers in game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semis, and they kept the score close until LeBron made a fastbreak layup after a Kevin Love rebound that made the score 18-16. From that point on, it was ALL Cleveland. The Cavs went on a 17-4 run over the last four minutes of the first quarter, making the score 35-20 going into the second quarter. The Hawks were hoping to find new life in the second period, but they didn’t. The Cavs continued to crush the Hawks, outscoring their opponent 39-18. At the half, the Cavs had a huge lead. The team set the record for most made threes in the first half of a game, and they were up 74-36, which prompted the Hawks Twitter account to post this:

This pretty much sums up the first half. During the second half, Atlanta played much better, but they obviously didn’t comeback. The game was pretty much over at halftime, and bench players played most of the second half. The final score of this rout was 123-98.
The Cavs had a truly historic game shooting the basketball. They made a lot of threes, and they set the NBA record for most threes in a game with 25. Dahntay Jones made the record setting three, and J.R. Smith made the most threes on the night. He made 7 of 13 from long range, and LeBron James and Kyrie Irving added 4 more along with 3 from Kevin Love. The Cavs made a high percentage of these shots, shooting 55% on the night.
Tonight’s game was a poor game for Atlanta, and a historic game for Cleveland. It was raining threes all night in The Q for the home team, but the series will now move away from Quicken Loans Arena and into the Highlight Factory, Phillips Arena. Hopefully with the home fans behind them, the Hawks can come out and compete with Cleveland and avoid being swept in their two games at home.
