The Cleveland Cavaliers were looking to trade for Joe Johnson yesterday, which would make the Brooklyn Nets very happy. Brendan Haywood & Anderson Varejao have been mentioned in trade talks with Johnson in order to match salaries.
According to ESPN’s Mike Mazzeo:
. @Chris_Broussard reports #Nets were looking for a third team to take Anderson Varejao's contract, and Joe Johnson Cavs talks are stagnant.

Varejao did not have a good year last year, signing a huge contract extenson worth about $30 million over the next 3 years, and he got a season ending injury in December. None of these help the case for the Cavaliers to win Johnson off the Nets. Johnson would add fire power to the already talented bench of the Cavaliers. If Joe Johnson does come to the Cavaliers, that will most likely eliminate J.R Smith’s role. This is LeBron’s team at the end of the day and what he says goes. Depending on how much he likes Joe Johnson, J.R might see his way out of Cleveland. But who knows, LeBron was the one who wanted J.R in the first place.
