I may joke about how Kyrie Irving is overrated and he isn’t nowhere near top 5 even though some of you Kyrie fan boys make out as if he’s the GOAT. But to his credit, when he isn’t injured, he plays a whole lot of minutes. We’ve seen it before LeBron was there and we have now seen the high minute count even when LeBron was on the team.
But it really isn’t about LeBron coming into the team. It’s because Kyrie has no backup. JR Smith isn’t a point guard, despite all the memes Matthew Dellavedova is still mediocre. It’s just Kyrie in the back court. But now that the Cavs have acquired Mo Williams, the Cavs want to shorten Irving’s minutes.
The Cavs also want to cut Irving’s minutes. Mo Williams was signed to help out at point guard. Irving is coming off surgery for a fractured knee cap, so it makes sense to keep his workload light in the regular season.
But now that Williams will take some of Irving’s workload. A bit less of those inflated numbers, which means Kyrie fan boys will have no leg to stand on. Man I can’t wait for the season to start.
