Amid controversy upon controversy, the Cleveland Cavaliers came into Los Angeles to face the Lakers and looked to end their 6 game losing streak. Powered behind a big performance from the King, LeBron James, the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 109-102.
LeBron James had 36 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists on the night for the Cavaliers to lead them to a win. It’s LeBron’s first win of 2015 and his best performance of the new year so far. Kyrie Irving scored 22 points on the night and J.R. Smith scored 14 points. Kevin Love scored 17 points and grabbed 7 rebounds on the night but the real story for Love was the fact that he played the entire second half with apparently horrible back spasms. At one point Love took a charge, went to the ground and had to be helped up by 3 Cavaliers teammates.
Los Angeles Lakers saw their star Kobe Bryant set a career-high. No, it wasn’t in points, it was in assists as Kobe Bryant set a career-high with 17 assists including getting 10 assists in the first half for the first time in his career. Bryant finished with 19 points to go with his huge assists total on the night along with 6 rebounds. Jordan Hill led the Lakers in scoring with 20 points while grabbing 6 rebounds and Nick Young came off the bench to score 14 points.
Cleveland Cavaliers are 20-20. Los Angeles Lakers are 12-28.
