LeBron James is headed back to the NBA Finals. For the first time since 2007, it will be in a Cavaliers uniform. The Hawks came into game 4 hoping to keep their very surprising and pleasant season alive. The odds and LeBron James were against them though. No Kyle Korver, a hobbled DeMarre Carroll, and just a lack of effort everywhere else got them a 3-0 deficit in the Eastern Conference Finals in the first lace. The Hawks did not redeem themselves, and unfortunately after no effort at all, the Cavaliers sweep the Atlanta Hawks in 4 games.
The game was over before it started. Kyrie Irving was playing tonight because they knew he needed some playing time before the NBA Finals. LeBron James did his usual thing and the Hawks basically couldn’t do anything the entire game. The Hawks NEVER led in the game, shot 16% from 3 point land, and grabbed 17 less rebounds then the Cavaliers. As for the Cavaliers, all was dandy. LeBron scored 23 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and dished out 7 assits. A rejuvinated Kyrie Irving scored 16 points and 4 other Cavaliers had double figure point totals to finish off the Hawks 118-88. It was really no big deal for the Cavaliers. They are not the East champions. We know that isn’t enough for the 2 time NBA champion LeBron James.
The Atlanta Hawks have a lot of questions to answer this off season. They won a franchise record 60 wins, and seemed like they were the ‘spurs’ of the East, until they met LeBron James. Highly sought out player DeMarre Carroll is a free agent this summer and there have already been rumors about him in a Lakers uniform. The Hawks took a baby step in the right direction this year. They found a winning formula with players that can handle that type of playing style. It is all about keeping their players, and keeping their momentum, heading into next season.
The Hawks go fishing, while the Cleveland Cavaliers advance to the NBA Finals to most likely play the Golden State Warriors. What most thought of to be the Finals matchup heading into the Playoffs, is now a reality. The best player in the world against the best player in the league right now, LeBron James vs. Stephen Curry. What NBA fan doesn’t want to watch that?
